MASS MARCH ON JUNE 5

Let Bush, Rumsfeld and the world know what you think:
MARCH FROM THE WHITE HOUSE TO THE PENTAGON

End the Torture - End the Killings - End the Occupation
BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

The people of the United States must and are taking a
stand against the criminal war and occupation of Iraq.
There has never been a more urgent time than now to join
together and let the whole world know that George W. Bush,
Donald Rumsfeld and other high officials who have carried
out unspeakable war crimes, crimes against humanity and
crimes against peace do not speak for us, the people.

The world, and especially the people of the Middle East,
are seething over the daily experiences and exposes of
torture and humiliation imposed by U.S. military forces on
Iraqi prisoners. It is not enough to demand the firing of
Donald Rumsfeld. He is, of course, a criminal who should
be held accountable. But the war itself is a crime. Tens
of thousands of men, women and children in Iraq have been
killed, their lives destroyed, their homes broken into,
their loved ones taken prisoner.

And these horrendous abuses are being carried out every
single day by U.S. and other foreign occupying forces
without let up. Family members of those abducted travel
from U.S. prison to U.S. prison throughout the country
looking for their loved ones, to find out where they are
being held and why, or to recover their bodies.

The social fabric of Iraqi society has been deliberately
and systematically ripped apart as Bush pursues the
impossible fantasy of returning a proud and patriotic
people into an earlier stage of colonial or neo-colonial
enslavement. U.S. soldiers, too, used as cannon fodder by
Bush and the top brass, are being killed and maimed in
growing numbers.

On June 5, we will solemnly stand with the people of the
world who reject the torture and humiliation of Iraqis,
both in the dark dungeons like Abu Ghraib, and in the
daily humiliations that are endured by Iraqi society at
the hands of foreign occupiers. On June 5, we will stand
with all of those families and communities who are
demanding that U.S. soldiers be brought home from Iraq
immediately. On June 5, we will be marching from the White
House to the Pentagon and demanding that the $300 million
spent each day for death and destruction in Iraq be used
to fund education, housing, healthcare and jobs.

The outcome of Bush's war and occupation of Iraq will have
a significance that will span the globe and last a
generation. Bush and Cheney know that their "vision" of
endless war - aimed at destroying any government anywhere
on the planet that refuses to obey the dictates of
Washington - turns on the increasingly bloody battle being
waged against the Iraqi resistance. From occupied Haiti to
occupied Palestine and everywhere else, people recognize
the global importance of the confrontation in Iraq.

On June 5, people from around the United States are not
only converging at the White House and marching to the
Pentagon to demand Bring the Troops Home Now! There will
also be large antiwar protests that day in San Francisco,
Los Angeles and other cities on June 5th. While Bush is
slipping in the polls and the people increasingly turn
against the war, it is critical that the antiwar movement
act now to turn up the pressure. Waiting for the November
election or the possible election of John Kerry would be a
colossal mistake. Kerry only promises to send more troops
to Iraq rather than end this debacle. The people of the
U.S. must take action - as they did during Vietnam - to
stop this criminal war.

Your help is needed now more than ever. Volunteers are
working all over the country mobilizing for the June 5
demonstrations, distributing flyers, putting up posters
and stickers, sending emails, and organizing buses, vans
and car caravans to be in Washington DC, San Francisco and
Los Angeles.
