PHONE JAM TO SHUT DOWN ANTI-CHOICE CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, DC

On Sunday April 25, 2004 tens of thousands of feminists will converge in Washington, DC for the largest pro-choice march in decades, “The March for Women’s Lives.” This event has been organized collaboratively over the past year by Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Feminist Majority Foundation, the National Organization for Women, and NARAL Pro-choice America, among others.

While the “March for Women’s Lives” has secured a permit for the route it intends to take, anti-choice organizations have secured a permit for the sidewalks surrounding 8-blocks of this march route. From teenagers with signs reading “Stop Killing My Generation,” to women in black “grieving the loss of an aborted child,” Operation Rescue and Operation Witness, led by Randall Terry will attempt to torment and terrorize the thousands of people participating in the “March for Women’s Lives.”

In order to put a crimp in their plans, New Jersey Anti-Racist Action is calling for a phone jam of the two hotels that we know the anti-choicers will be staying at. We are asking all people who believe in reproductive and sexual freedoms to take a few minutes out of their days (or nights) during the rest of the week, and let these hotels know that we do not appreciate their support of fascism, and that no one in the pro-choice movement will patronize their businesses when they obviously support a right-wing agenda.

Operation Witness, the event organized by Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry which purports to being prepared to confront the “March for Women’s Lives” will be holding a series of workshops and speaking events at the Doubletree Crystal City @ National Airport. Operation Witness organizers have also secured a discounted rate at the Americana Hotel in Arlington, VA for all people who register under the Operation Witness name. Please call these two hotels and let them know how you feel about their support for militant anti-choicers.
