Anti-FTAA activists have been forced to face the horrific conditions of the City of Miami and the Miami Dade County Justice system up close because of the actions of the police forces arrayed against them. A few have banded together in forming the Miami Prisoners Solidarity Network to work with the prisoners, ex-prisoners, and prisoners families of Miami-Dade County to change the inhumane conditions inside the jails.

Text of Flyer developed by Miami Prisoners Solidarity Network:

Overcrowding, poor to no medical treatment, unsanitary living conditions, misconduct and violence by prison guards and cases of inhumane punishments and torture are some of what prisoners in Miami and across the U.S. face every day.

Miami Prisoner Solidarity is a network that is striving to support and connect prisoners, released prisoners, and prisoners' families. Our goals are to document and bring attention to the inhumane conditions inside Miami jails, and work towards bringing about changing the conditions through raising public awareness, legal action, political pressure, and direct action. Ultimately, we do not see putting people in cages as a way to solve problems, or stop "crime"- but instead, enforcing real crimes, such as poverty and racism. We hope to spark dialogue of how we can work towards a society that has no need for prisons or policing. If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact us: 305-756-2782
