Today Alderwoman Laurino came to NEIU to give a safe speech on her life as a coucilwoman. She was met by a broad coalition of Latino students who demanded answers for why the day laborers don't have a shelter. She said it was decided eight years ago to build a bike path. It took eight years? She also said that it was the city who had the problem not her ward. Another student asked when they moved the shelter why did they move it to a Latino ward? EThnic Cleansing of the undesirables? She did not have the free ride she expected. She must address the needs of her ward, legal or illegal. There was a counter heckler who defended Wal-Mart as being a convienent place? THe alderwoman can not escape the long arm of the working class. She will have to answer. If not now then in the ballot box.
