Chicago Police Department continues attacks on Adam Sanders & his family
A Chicago cop from the 18th District arrested 19 year old Adam Sanders in the lobby of 1230 N. Burling in Cabrini-Green yesterday afternoon. Adam's sister and other residents crowded into the lobby when the officer moved to draw his gun, shouting: "we don't have guns! You going to shoot us ALL?"
Adam was 18 when he was beaten viciously by the Chicago Police along with 3 other young men who were returning from a wake in April of 2003. A videotape was made of the officers beating them while they were handcuffed and prone on the ground. The cops had their guns drawn on the helpless men. The videotape was widely covered in the mainstream Chicago press.
The officers who did the beatings last April have made death threats against Adam & the others. Monday afternoon Adam was threatened again in custody by a cop who told him: "I know where you and your family live." He told Adam he would face felony charges if he did not "wear a wire" and plant drugs on his sister Octavia, a woman in her mid-20's who has been quoted in the press exposing the police brutality which happened to her brother and other residents in Cabrini-Green.
Adam refused to wear a hidden microphone or plant drugs on his family members. He was released from the 18th District, charged with misdemeanor "tresspassing" in his own home.
