Call to Action for a Radical Anti-Imperialist Bloc in Indianapolis on Jan. 18th

Stand with us to help build a revolutionary opposition to this war and all wars!
(please distribute widely)
From the very first teach-ins following the terrorist attacks of September 11th through the mass protests on October 26th in Washington D.C., the new peace movement has been marked by a diversity of voices and tactics, from lifelong activists to first-time demonstrators, from Republicans to Anarchists, and from coalitions organizing on a national level to conscientious individuals wheatpasting flyers in their home towns. On a local level, we seek to maintain this strength in diversity by calling for a Radical Anti-Imperialist Bloc at the January 18th anti-war protest in downtown Indianapolis to advance an anarchist perspective in our city.

As radicals and revolutionaries, we must speak the word that war is a symptom of the overall disease--capitalism--and a tool by which the primary defender of capitalism, the state, expands its power and its machinery of control. Because of this understanding, we must not only act in solidarity with the entirety of the peace movement in opposing the war on Iraq, but we must also form our own coherent presence to make clear our resolve to resist every war-- while we stand together with the vast majority of those who are questioning this war and Bush's regime, we must also publicly go one step farther. On the 18th, revolutionaries in Indianapolis will make themselves heard in a variety of ways, including distributing flyers along the demonstration route, serving Food Not Bombs, and performing street theatre.

We ask that comrades from across Indiana and the Midwest join us--as individuals or affinity groups, as participants in the planned action or with creative protests-- on the 18th at Monument Circle (Meridian and Market St.), at 10 am. From there, we will march as a separate contingent in the larger protest, and participate in the proceeding rally at 12 am (which shares the same meeting point).

Resistance to this unending, global “war on terrorism” must be built on the local level now, in every city in America, if we are to have any chance of stopping it.
For peace and freedom!
