Don't forget...

Join us to demand: Mayor Daley Clean Up Our Dirty Air
Now!
Wednesday, December 11th – 4:30 P.M.
5th floor City Hall, Mayor Daley’s Office – 118 N.
Clark St., Chicago

Ø Do You or anyone You Know have asthma or eat fish
from our rivers or Lake Michigan?

Ø Did You Know the largest sources of air pollution
and mercury in Chicago are the Crawford & Fisk Coal
Burning Electrical Power Plants in Little Village &
Pilsen on the southwest side?

Ø A 2001 Harvard School of Public Health study
estimates that there are 2,800 asthma attacks and 40
premature deaths every year due to poor air quality
from these 2 plants!

Ø Those most affected live in Little Village and
Pilsen, but people who live throughout Chicago also
breathe dirty air from the 2 plants. Air doesn’t have
doors and it affects us all.

Ø The mercury from these plants gets into the fish we
all eat from our rivers and Lake Michigan and poisons
our nervous system.

Pollution produced by these outdated coal fired power
plants is poisoning the air in our neighborhoods and
the water in our rivers and lakes!
It’s time for us to demand cleaner air!

Last Spring Alderman Ed Burke proposed a new law to
the Chicago City Council that would clean up most of
the air pollution coming from the Crawford and Fisk
Power Plants. But Mayor Daley and the City’s
Department of the Environment have stopped this from
moving forward. We need to let them know that we want
this law passed NOW! On December 11th we will visit
the Mayor’s Office and present him with the signatures
of hundreds of people in Chicago that want Fisk and
Crawford cleaned up now.
