March 25, 2002: Dead microbiologist: Steven Mostow, 63, dies when the airplane he was piloting crashes near Denver. He worked at the Colorado Health Sciences Centre and was known as Dr. Flu for his expertise in treating influenza, and expertise on bioterrorism. He was "one of the country's leading infectious disease experts" and was associate dean at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Three others died in the crash.
