Jail the Cops that Killed Her, Don’t Rehire Them!
On Thursday, October 24 the Police Board will begin a new hearing in the case of Michael Williams, who was fired as a result of his participation in the murder of LaTanya Haggerty. It is possible that Williams’ firing will be overturned as a result of this hearing. This is outrageous, and is another example of how, post-9/11, murderous police have been rehabilitated under the slogan that now “all police are heroes.” We say that brutal police are not heroes!
The firing of the four cops who murdered LaTanya Haggerty was the result of weeks of protests and outrage at the police murder of Haggerty and Robert Russ. Now, the powers that be think that the climate is right to reverse this victory. We must make it loud and clear to them that we will not be silent and let them re-hire these murdering thugs.
