Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (August 30) is up at the website www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:10) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired at 7pm PDST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you MIGHT be able to stream via www.kzyx.org/ (It hasn't worked recently)
There are several other streams that work quite well- members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PDST) and on Monday at 9amPDST.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR at Fri 10:30PM/ Sat 10:30AM PM/ Sun 10:30AM PDST
and the Partytown streams are great and informative- www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche Welle, Spanish National Radio, Radio Netherlands, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Germany- from its weekly program Man and Environment, an interview with the Political Director of Greenpeace, Remy Palmentier, speaking from the UN Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
From Spain- US threats of an attack on Iraq, delivered by Rumsfeld and Cheney, have received almost no international support, but a wealth of criticism. Venezuala’s President Chavez accuses his opponents of wrecking the economy, in a further attempt to oust him from office.
From Netherlands- the Spanish political party Batasuna has been banned and riots emerged around the country. Former Nicaraguan Pres Alleman has legislative immunity from prosecution on corruption charges- large demonstrations are insisting on a trial. Chile is attempting to destroy all land mines laid during the Pinochet regime.
From Cuba- Zapatistas in Chiapas Mexico are under attack from right-wing paramilitaries. The British newspaper the Guardian has published new figures showing that environmental degradation is worse than recent estimates. At the Earth Summit, the US and several other countries are working to reduce committments to developing alternative energy sources. Britain’s Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sachs has warned Israel that its military stance is corrupting its own culture.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
