PACIFICA RADIO'S "DEMOCRACY NOW."

DELEGATION LED BY CLARK VISITS BASRA HOSPITAL WHERE
CASUALTIES OF AUG. 25 U.S. BOMBING ARE BEING TREATED.
LATEST U.S. ATTACK KILLED 8 IRAQI CIVILIANS AND
WOUNDED 9 MORE.

A delegation led by former U.S. Attorney General
Ramsey Clark today visited the Basra, Iraq hospital
where survivors of Sunday's U.S. bombing raid are
being treated. Eight civilians were killed in the
bombing and nine others wounded in the attack.

The peace and fact-finding mission includes: Mara
Verheyden-Hilliard, co-founder of the Partnership for
Civil Justice, a Washington DC-based law firm
specializing in civil rights and civil liberties; and
member of A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition steering committee
Brian Becker, Co-Director of the International Action
Center; and Member of A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition steering
committee Kaddouri Al-Kaysi of the Committee in
Solidarity with the Iraqi People; and Johnnie Stevens
of the People's Video Network.

After visiting the hospital in Basra, Mr. Clark
debated a Pentagon spokesperson, Lt. Col. David Lapan
on the national Pacifica Radio show, "Democracy Now."
Clark emphasized the illegality and immorality of the
U.S.-British-imposed "No-Fly Zones" which have covered
two-thirds of Iraq for more than a decade, and the
criminality of the continued U.S. air attacks and
sanctions against Iraq and its people.(To hear the
entire debate go to:

Ramsey Clark made a strong appeal for urgent action to
stop a new all-out U.S. war against Iraq before it
starts. He urged people in the U.S. to join in the
emergency actions called by the International
A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition around the country Sept. 14-16,
and the international day of protest set for October 26.
