Students at the City Colleges walked out of their
classes on March 14th, rallied at city hall, and
demanded the counselors be reinstated. We were
promised a meeting with the Mayor that has yet to
happen, and our counselors have been given their pink
slips. But the fight is not over. We need your help!

WE ARE WALKING OUT AGAIN ON MAY 2nd- PLEASE JOIN US!
Students will walk out of classes at 11:15 am and
demontrate at City Hall at noon. We need your
solidarity.
Let's send a message to Mayor Daley.
NO MORE CUT BACKS! NO MORE FIRINGS! NO MORE UNION
BUSTING!

As you may know on March 7th the City Colleges of
Chicago (CCC) Board of Trustees-appointed by Mayor
Daley-eliminated the counseling departments at ALL of
the City Colleges. This was done despite the protest
of students, faculty, and staff of the Colleges. Now
the Mayor and the Board want to fire the Adult
Education Coordinators! Why? To cut costs by busting
the unions that represent the workers at CCC.
These recent attacks follow last year's attempt to
privatize the City Colleges. Through protest,
students, faculty, staff and the citizens of Chicago
stopped the plan to privatize. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!
The cut backs at City Colleges are an attempt to
balance the city budget on the backs of working
people. If the Mayor has money to dole out tax breaks
to corporations, and developers, there is money to
fund the City Colleges! Education is a right, NOT a
privledge! We need to let the Mayor know we won't let
him or his cronies take away our right to a decent,
affordable education.
