Last November, five dockworkers in South Carolina won a victory when authorities dropped plans to prosecute them on felony charges after a police attack on their picket line. After enduring more than 18 months under house arrest, they won their freedom through an international labor solidarity campaign.

In the spirit of May Day, the Charleston Five, members of the International Longshoresmen¹s Association, and Leonard Riley of ILA Local 1422, are coming to thank the Chicago labor movement for our support.

They¹re also here show solidarity for local struggles like the Carousel strikers, who have on the picket line for more than six months in their fight for a UNITE union contract.
