The
Chicago Maroon reports that a high school student at Chicago's Kenwood Academy, unwilling to tolerate a discriminatory student seating policy at a McDonald's restaurant in Hyde Park during a busy lunchtime, openly defied the policy and was placed under arrest as a result.
The McDonald's on Lake Park and 52nd Street nevertheless changed its student seating policy in the wake of the arrest, but that didn't stop more than 100 students and organizers from organizing a protest which decried the policy, deeming the policy present-day
segregation.
