Madison, Wisconsin played host to the National Conference on Media Reform held from November 7-9, 2003. Some 2000 activists from across the country and around the world joined in panels, workshops, and events pertaining to media activism. Participating Chicago-area organizations included CAN-TV, WLUW-FM, Chicago Indymedia, Chicago Media Action, Chicago Media Watch, and In These Times.

Madison saw the kickoff of the national Tell Us The Truth tour, and Madison also played host to Be The Media, a concurrent conference encouraging direct media creating and involvement. The conference included a caucus of Indymedia activists which Chicago Indymedia participated in and moderated.
