INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY: J-5: Chicago Day of Action for Palestine

More than 100 protesters marched to Boeing's Chicago headquarters and the Israeli consulate Thursday evening, where they staged a dramatic reenactment of the Israeli military's murder of International Solidarity Movement activist Rachel Corrie. Thursday's march and street theatre was organized as part of a international day of action to oppose Israel's continuing occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which marked its 36th anniversary this week. The Chicago protest also highlighted the growing campaign to demand that Peoria-based Caterpillar Corporation stop selling bulldozers to the Israeli military, which uses CAT equipment to destroy roads, wipe out olive trees, and demolish Palestinian homes. A Caterpillar export -- the D-9 armored bulldozer -- was used to crush Rachel to death on March 16 as she tried to block the demolition of a Palestinian home near Rafah in the occupied Gaza Strip.
