Peace activists shackled themselves together, blocked escalators and chanted anti-war pleas at the downtown Chicago headquarters of Boeing Corporation Thursday morning to protest the aviation giant’s role in the upcoming war on Iraq. Chicago police reportedly initially barred corporate and independent reporters from documenting the arrests, and 1st District chief John Risley threatened to have a Chicago IMC reporter arrested for covering the action.
