Questionable Advertising Regarding Tardive Dyskinesia

Intrezza

1. Deceptive ad speech
Ad script is directed toward those who take antipsychotics. Ad includes the phrase 'so now your mind is in a better place'. In actuality the FDA requires that
antipsychotic bottles have a warning that the drugs may cause suicide or homicide.
Those contemplating hurting others are not in a better mental place, (How many of the multiple shootings in the US are done by those on such lethal
medications?)

2. Intrezza makers
claim to treat tardive dyskinesia, though many authorities say it is incurable. Tardive dyskinesia is a lethal side effect of many
antipsychotic medications which cause
involuntary, repetitive body movements, possible
grimacing, sticking out the tongue, or smacking the lips. Additionally, there may be rapid jerking movements or slow writhing movements, constant hand, feet or other shaking. In about 20% of people with TD, the disorder interferes with daily functioning.
