A campaign of silence by corporate media with their meat ad profiteering and by federal agencies which historically protect the meat industry have criminally neglected informing the public of Mad Deer, Mad Cow, Mad Caribou, Mad Elk etc.

In 2018 at least 25 U.S. states, 2 Canadian provinces and Norway have reported cases of Mad Deer, Mad Elk, Mad Moose, Mad Bear, Mad Caribou, Mad Mule Deer, Mad Reindeer. Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming are some of the states reporting incidents.

CBS, MSNBC, NPR, CSpan (through cable industry) all profiteer from meat industry ads. and have censored the news. The 200 million $ NPR has invested in burger chain stock has bought silence. The CDC has done minimal warning. The USDA, FDA have protected
hunter tourism industries and have criminally neglected the public health attempting to hide the disease with the term Chronic Wasting Disease rather than spongiform encephalopathy, a disease of many species. The Japanese government tests all American meat, because of the USDA's refusal to test. Ann Veneman, former USDA Secretary, mentored by the American Meat Institute's Richard Lyng, began the history of USDA censorship before becoming a head of UNICEF.

Many slaughterhouses have failed to keep the brain tissue and spinal cords from mixing with the rest of the murdered animals' cadavers and have spread Mad Cow. Mother Jones wrote that Hormel workers were being paralyzed from working in the brain room
in which they inhale a blood mist.

Amarillo cattlemen twice attempted to suppress news of Mad Cow (which was in a Purina herd in Sutherland Springs, Texas and
elsewhere) by suing Oprah Winfrey and Howard Lyman, who publicized the censorship of Mad Cow in the US. The 5th Circuit ruled
twice against the cattlemen. The decision stated that the truth is not libel.

Hunters who murder deer and eat the deer meat are spreading the disease by bringing deer urine with them to many states. The urine is used to entrap innocent animals prior to murdering them. The Alaskan government is trying to keep imported deer urine out of the state. Hunters eating venison (deceptive term for deer flesh) can contract cervine spongiform encephalopathy, Mad Hunters' Disease. Mad Deer, Mad Elk have a history in Colorado (where Colorado State University furthered Mad Elk incidence by infecting animals at a research station. Vivisectors often spread diseases by recreating them in captive tortured animals.)
