Kenwood Academy High School was one of about 100 public schools across Chicago this morning to participate in a “walk-in” hosted by the Chicago Teacher’s Union (CTU).

At 8:15 a.m. [on February 17, 2016], around 100 people gathered outside of Kenwood, 5105 S. Blackstone Ave., at 51st Street and Harper Avenue to stand in solidarity with the CTU and their fight for a fair contract, as well as standing against recent budget cuts made by Chicago Public Schools (CPS).

Teachers, students, parents and community members were a part of the “walk-in” rally. One parent said that she supports the CTU because labor unions are essential.
