This week's show features stories from NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, The Voice Of Russia, and Spanish National Radio.
From JAPAN- Hiroshima experienced a record amount of rainfall this week, nearly 8 inches in 3 hours, causing massive mudslides and at least 39 deaths. The Japanese Defense Ministry is asking for a record high budget for the upcoming year because of conflicts in the region. In Thailand the military chief who led the coup in May has been appointed the new Prime Minister. Clashes erupted between residents and security forces in Liberia over isolation and curfews to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus. The EU is offering farmers subsidies to help farmers whose harvests will not be imported by Russia.
From GERMANY- In eastern Ukraine rockets hit buses carrying refugees- government and separatist forces blamed each other for the attack. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov says there can be no settlement to the conflict until government forces cease their military campaign. Ukrainian troops say that they are taking more areas in the conflict. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says he will soon be leaving the Ecuadorian embassy but not for health reasons. Germany and Italy joined Britain and France in saying that they will arm Kurdish forces in Iraq. Bloodshed returned to Gaza with Israeli jets killing at least 20 Palestinians after peace talks broke down on Tuesday.
From CUBA- More on the breakdown of peace talks between Israel and Palestine held in Cairo. There were at least 60 Israeli airstrikes in the first 24 hours of renewed fighting. Venezuela has sent relief aid to the Palestinians via Egypt, but the delivery of the goods in uncertain. An Egyptian court has postponed the trial of ousted President Morsi on charges that he and 130 Muslim Brotherhood members broke into prisons during the revolt against Mubarak.
From RUSSIA- The results of a global peace index have been published, showing that the world has more warfare underway than at any time since the conclusion of World War 2. An interview with Thomas Morgan, research fellow at The Institute for Economics and Peace.
From SPAIN- The four Catalan political parties supporting independence from Spain agreed that the referendum will be held on November 9th regardless of federal government rulings. There have been massive demonstrations in Pakistan calling on the Prime Minister to resign because of corruption and rigging last year's election. The UN Human Rights chief, Navi Pillay, says that the confrontations in Ferguson, Missouri between police and protestors are reminiscent of the racial violence spawned by Apartheid in her native South Africa.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < http://www.kzyx.org >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)

¡FurthuR! Dan Roberts

"If you want to really hurt your parents, and you don't have the nerve to be gay, the least you can do is go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something. "
