On this Monday's Labor Express Radio program...

The immigrant rights movement in Chicago has been quite active as of late. On March 10th a rally took place at Daley Plaza in Chicago, part of a national event called Out of the Shadows. Undocumented youth came together and spoke out in public about their struggle in the U.S. as immigrants forced to live 'in the shadows'. We will hear some of their testimonies on today’s program.

And this past weekend, hundreds of immigrant rights activists marched nearly 40 miles from the La Villita neighborhood in Chicago to the small town of Crete, Illinois, were the Corrections Corporation of America plans to build a privately owned and operated detention center for undocumented immigrants. We will hear from march organizers and a local resident about their opposition to the detention center.

And in the second half of the program we will get an update on the human rights situation in Honduras and the continent-wide effort to develop an alternative economic vision from Dr. Luther Castillo, the founder of the first hospital in Honduras’ Garifuna community. Luther was in town last week with representatives from a number of Latin American countries who are promoting ALBA – the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, an attempt to develop an international alliance of countries committed to an economic model that rejects neo-liberal economics.
