Irish Freedom Committee Pickets at British Consulate - Sat. May 7, Noon-2PM
There are currently nearly 100 Irish Republican Political Prisoners being held in jails in Ireland and England. These men and women are being classed as criminals due to their opposition to the 1998 "Good Friday" Treaty, and are being held under some of the most brutal and repressive conditions in Europe including 23-hour lockdowns and strip searches up to 40 times a day. Political Status, a right won in blood by the deaths of ten Irish Republican prisoners on hunger strikes in 1981, has been revoked by the latest British Treaty claiming to deliver "peace" but instead delivering increased military oppression and totalitarian rule.
