Chicago Actors Held Firm in Recent Strike

It was a long strike to pursue, but the benefits warranted it. In Chicago 4,000 actors are covered by the agreement. Despite public view of actors' pay, only 300 of them get more than $30,000/year from acting. Three-year contract provides both pay benefits and something new, a unionized market for actors in internet advertising.

Voting Nader or Abstaining: What to do on Election Day

For the last few months I have been in an ethical crisis. I have been trying to decide what to do on November 7, 2000, election day. I have not once considered voting for either Al Gore or George Bush. I cringe at the thought of this because it legitimizes the U.S. political system which is a manifestation of the corporate elite class. Incidentally, voting for Nader, or anyone, legitimizes the basic system of the U.S. government, an institution to which I am fundamentally opposed.
