Other observers called it a targeted assassination, or even an extrajudicial killingterms usually reserved for violations of human rights or international law. Such condemnation is not justified.
With this bald declaration, the Post forfeits any lingering claim to uphold basic democratic and human rights, and casts its lot wholly and completely with the exponents of imperialist war and neocolonial conquest in the Bush
administration. It is a devastating self-indictment that underscores the degradation of American liberalism.

Our Founding Fathers knew it was possible that the institutions of Congress and the Courts (i.e., our political and judicial systems) might someday begin to falter in their duty to protect the People.
This was why they resoundingly -- and without limit -- specifically reiterated the Right to petition for redress of grievances in the First Amendment. This right, the cornerstone of popular sovereignty, gave the People the ability to bypass the judicial, elective, and legislative processes in order to secure redress when the fundamental rights of liberty are violated.
We have clearly reached such a point.

On Nov. 6 over 200 rank-and-file workers from five University of Massachusetts unions confronted the system's Board of Trustees demanding the funding of their contracts. In a spirited face off students of color also demanded the restoration of advising and other services gutted in June.

I've uploaded clips taken around 8:30 pm tonight (Sunday) as Dominick's workers exited the strike vote. The final tally will not be available for several hours (Elizabeth Belan of UFCW local 881 can be reached by cell phone at 630-921-0199 later tonight; she's been up for more than 30 hours but w/be taking calls as best she can).
