DEFEND THE RNC 8

The RNC 8 are Twin Cities residents facing felony conspiracy charges for organizing against the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul. MN. They were arrested preemptively (many in early morning house raids), held for the duration of the convention, and prevented from participating in the very protests they helped to make happen. They spent the next seven months being demonized as “terrorists” by Ramsey County officials, and they are still facing possible prison time for exercising their right to dissent.

We demand that Ramsey County Prosecutor Susan Gaertner DROP ALL CHARGES against them.

This case is an opportunity to demonstrate community solidarity is the face of repression, and to establish a precedent of the face of repression, and to establish a president of successful resistance to the government’s attempts to destroy our movements. The RNC 8 aren’t the first nor the last organizers to be targeted by the state. By actively defending them, we help defend us all.

Re: RNC-8 Prosecutor in Chicago

Thanks, Chicagoans! These outrageous prosecutions have been roundly condemned not only by radicals, but also much of Gaertner's own political party and the labor movement. Text of the resolutions passed by Duluth's Labor Body and DFL in defense of the RNC8 might be good fodder for fliers - check 'em out here:

Re: Re: RNC-8 Prosecutor in Chicago

Noooooope.

Me and some other citizens, as you say, will be giving Susan a REAL Chicago welcome, the sort reserved for persecutors of innocent activists.

Rest assured, we'll do our best to ensure she doesn't sleep soundly at night.
