CHICAGO -- An off duty police officer shot and killed another unarmed civilian last night on the city's West Side, making this one of the worst years in recent memory for such shootings.

Larnester Hull, 34, father of five children ranging in age from 8 to 16-years-old, allegedly was shot in the back of the head at approximately 10 PM last night as he was fleeing the officer. Witnesses say that Hull and the off duty officer lived on the same block and had been involved in disputes in the past.

"My brother didn't deserve to die like that, he was a family man," said Wallace Lagrone, 46, Hull's oldest brother. "We demand answers!" Lagrone said that police waited two hours before informing him and his mother that Hull had been shot and killed.

Two witnesses, who wish to remain anonymous because they fear police retaliation, say they saw the off duty officer shoot Hull in the back of the head. The witnesses will be at today's 4 PM press conference at the corner of Homan and Rice, and will speak with reporters so long as they can do so off-camera and anonymously. Hull's mother, Mrs. Sealester Lagrone, and his younger brother, Wallace, will also speak.
