Chicago Commemorates 60th Year of Palestinian al-Nakba with call for Right of Return
Some pics
Hundreds gathered last Friday to continue the sixty-year struggle of Palestinians to reclaim their land and for the right of return. The Nakba was the beginning of the massive ethnic cleansing of Palestine that has given the world it's largest displaced refugee populations. Many activists came out in support, including those from Jewish and LGBTQ groups, but the majority of the crowd were Palestinians of all ages, from many young children to the older crowd, all with beautiful signs cut into the figure of Handala, a cartoon character of a young and poor Palestinian boy whose back is turned to the world who has turned its back on a the plight of his people.
