Wetback tells the real story of immigration to the United States. Filmmaker Arturo Perez Tores follows in the footsteps of two friends traveling over land from Nicaragua to the U.S. The film shows the issue of immigration into the U.S. from the perspective of the undocumented worker. It reveals the poverty that drives workers across the U.S. border—a poverty that causes them to literally risk life and limb to provide for their families that they leave behind. The film is about survival that drives immigrants to travel thousands of miles, facing Mexican police and gangs and the Border Patrol and the vigilantes in the US. 97min. 2005
