URGENT! Activist Arrested this morning DENIED MEDS
Ryane J. Ziemba, one of the activists involved in today's protest at Easter Mass is currently being denied his medication.
Despite multiple requests for his inhaler Chicago Police at the 18th District (near Division and Halsted) are refusing to give Ryane Ziemba the medication. Ryane's friends are asking that people call the station at 312-742-5870. We also are asking that people maintain a physical presence in front of the jail until the Police allow Ryan to use his medication.

So you are one of those obnoxious armchair thugs? If anybody is entitled to stand for moral values within the Catholic community, then it's CATHOLICS themselves. Are these "Catholic Schoolgirl" clowns even practicing Catholics? Would they dare disrupt an Islamic religious service?
Yes, take a stand... organize your own event and lead by example. Pulling pranks in churches attended by harmless parishoners is just plain juvenile.

The Christians harassing abortion clinics are mostly EVANGELICALS.
"Pestered"... I dare you to disrupt a black church mass. You know, where homophobic sermons are very common. Well, it's easier to pester upper class whites, huh? Blacks would kick your ass royally.

also, i think mm is incredibly immature and arrogant to attack 'church goers' like that. there are a billion catholics, a billion noncatholic christians and a billion muslims. attacking the followers of any huge faith is pretty stupid, isolating, and arrogant
and atheist, there are plenty of reasons to do this action- it was one of the most widely covered actions in chicago of the past week, and that should be enough. but cardinal francis george is also culpable for any number of the area's church hierarchy's problems, which include complacency in the face of this war.
also, for those attacking ryane for an arrestable action, hundreds of disabled activists took over downtown for several days last year, many of whom need meds. people who require medication have every right to resist and protest that anyone else does, and they are not to blame for a system of incarceration and brutality that does not respect their needs. remember may molina.
finally, thanks to the updater for the update. keep'em coming.

Like it or not, Easter mass at Holy Name has been a public spectacle - with television cameras on the scene - for literally decades in this town. ( so is Easter Mass in Vatican City, in case you've missed it ) And George, like it or not - is a public figure who has taken a conciliatory approach toward George Bush. Would that other religious folks muster the courage to speak up from the audience at their churches, synagogues and mosques against the incredible death and destruction unfolding in Iraq and help shatter the complancy they may find there.
