Breaking: Feds arrest ex-Chicago cop Jon Burge

Retired Chicago police Cmdr. Jon Burge was arrested at his home near Tampa, Fla., today on charges of lying in a civil case about whether he and other officers under his command tortured and physically abused suspects in police custody dating back to the 1980s, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Using hammers and bolt cutters, peace activists repeatedly broke into weapon plants and damaged weapons in Sweden. Activists from the Swedish group OFOG/Avrusta admitted damaging twenty high explosive grenade launchers as well as internal parts to a Howitzer 77.

Climate change is shown most clearly in the Arctic where the effect on environment is dramatic and wide-ranging. This year, Arctic air temperature was five degrees above the average and ice melting the second most comprehensive on record.

The infamous Bush-Paulson rescue plan for financial institutions in trouble reminds me of the Papua-New Guinea and Vanuatu ‘cargo cults’ when the natives, nurtured on hand-outs from allied air drops during World War II, sat around landing strips waiting for more cargo while engaging in weird worship rituals to attract the planes.
