Chicago Police Killed Yet Another Young Black Man Today

Tony Green, 22, strangled to death by cop this morning, witnesses say.

Green allegedly stuffed a substance into his mouth just before police apprehended him at Gladys and Pulaski on Chicago's West Side at about 11 AM today.

Witnesses say they saw a policeman grab Green by the throat and choke him in an attempt to regurgitate the substance. After being choked, Green's limp body was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Whatever the specifics of Green's killing, one fact remains indisputable: Chicago police kill civilians at a far higher rate than most, if not all, other big city police departments. According to the latest statistics available (2004), Chicago police kill civilians at a per capita rate of 4X that of New York City cops.

Green's family and friends protested at Area 4 Police Headquarters earlier this evening in an attempt to get answers from police. A friend of Green's, James Turner, remained in custody on undetermined charges.

"The death of a West Side man, who authorities said swallowed a bag of drugs that blocked his airway during a police chase, was ruled an accident, the Cook County medical examiner's office said Sunday.

Tony Green, 22, of the 600 block of North Mayfield Avenue was running from Chicago police officers near Pulaski Road and Van Buren Street Saturday morning and swallowed a bag of what was described as a white substance before having a seizure, a law enforcement source said. Green was pronounced dead in Mt. Sinai Hospital.

An autopsy Sunday determined he died of asphyxia and "aspiration of a foreign body," which means he inhaled something into his lungs or trachea, blocking his breathing, a medical examiner's spokesman said."

Over and over again the police have rushed out statements about what supposedly happened in police brutality cases. These "told you so" statements have been slavishly reprinted by the major dailies, and then hours or days later, convincingly refuted by eyewitnesses and/or videotape. This is how each of the police brutality scandals that brought down Cline unfolded, and Gunnar Slav's slavish faith in the police line shows just what a right wing idiot s/he is.

"Joshua" has no problem with the cops choking or executing a "worthless drug user." When the cops turn on the Joshuas of Chicago who will stand of for such a worthless man, a guy who failed to defend life, even it it be that of a drug user.

Eye on the prize, you are a stupid motherfucker. If the fool hadn't swallowed the damn bag, he would still be alive. He choked his own self, the damn cop was trying to save his sorry ass by dislodging the shit, but oh no, it's the cop's fault. You maybe will grow up and enter reality someday.
