Sentencing of Aaron Patterson Set for April 12
Former Illinois death row prisoner and police torture victim Aaron Patterson will be sentenced at 10 AM, Thursday, April 12 on charges of weapons possession (although no weapons were actually found in his possession).

Aaron Patterson speaks at protest opposing U.S. invasion of Iraq, March 20, 2003
He asks his supporters to show their solidarity by attending the sentencing -- this will probably be his last hearing before he is shipped out to prison. The sentencing will take place in Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer's courtroom, 219 S. Dearborn, Room 2119.
There were many suspicious aspects regarding the prosecution's case against Aaron, and unfortunately his defense counsel was woefully ill-equipped to fight such a voluminous and complicated case, and protested as much to Judge Pallmeyer.
Only the naive would dispute that Aaron was targeted for prosecution on account of his outspokenly calling out Chicago's political leadership for their complicity in former police commander Jon Burge's brutal tortures, and their systematic cover-up thereof.
Of course Jon Burge, Richard M. Daley and Dick Devine continue to evade criminal prosecution -- while hiding in plain sight.

Good Initiative From Black People Against Police Torture

BPAPT is calling on the Olympic authorities to deny Chicago the 2016 games unless it makes a clean accounting for the tortures and finally holds Burge, et al responsible. No Accountability: No Games.
BPAPT attempted some direct action around this in Washington Park when the Olympic review team was last here. For a good account of this action and BPAPT's overall initiative, check out the Reader article at the following URL:
