In what ways can we lend support?

Here's what the March 10 coalition is suggesting in the way of action:

Elvira Arellano, president of United Latino Families, took refuge in a church today rather than be deported. (article from Chicago Tribune below) The March 10th Movement is asking everyone to call the offices of Senators Obama and Durbin and urge them to submit a private bill that will halt the deportation proceedings against her. This has been done for several years but they have failed to submit the bill this year. Here is the action request from the Movimiento:

People: Gente:

We simply cannot remain silent, nor stand by . . . This was a very courageous step on Elvira's part and we cannot let her stand alone.

What is the status of Elvira's claim today, March 27, 2007?

I agree that Elvira is comparable to Rosa Parks.

The feds like to do night raids, usually between midnight and sunrise so thats when I would watch out for a surprise raid on the church the most. Supporters should be prepared for that.

Tienes razon. A mi tambien no me gusta como Elvira ha tratado de imponerse sobre la ley del pais. Si ella ha trbajado, pagado impuestos, y seguido la ley por mas de 8 anos, podria cualificar para el programa propuesto por el nuevo congreso que le daria una forma legal para hacerse ciudadana. La historia la vera como una Rosa Parks, Ghandi, o Martin Luther King, pero en este momento con tanta gente (nacida en este pais, immigrantes legales y ilegales - todos!), sufriendo, porque ella quire que la ley cambie solo para ella y las otras que vinieron aqui embarazada para tener hijos "ciudadanos" esperando que el gobierno americano les de todo para sus hijos gratis? Sabes cuantas mujeras quisieran tener los beneficios que esas personas aprovechadoras tienen? Donde esta la justicia, cuando los que estafan salen adelante?
