Report on Protest Against the "Ex-Gay" Fraud
The Gay Liberation Network recently organized a protest against the anti-gay fraud of a group known as Exodus International -- a nutty outfit which obnoxiously claims that it can bring "freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ."
Driving into Marion, Indiana.
Exodus was holding its national convention in the rural Indiana town of Marion, Indiana.
They were obviously alerted to our impending arrival, as campus police quickly greeted us. Even though Marion is a small, relatively isolated town in a rural, economically depressed part of the state, our reception by local citizens ranged from neutral to extremely positive. A burly truck driver dropped by to thank us for being there -- he said his mom is a lesbian. A man and woman couple profusely apologized to us, saying they felt that the Exodus International people gave a bad name to Christians -- they offered to bring us pizza.
GLN would like to thank our partners in Chicago A.N.S.W.E.R. and Black LGBT People & Allies for Equality, who joined us for the protest.
Just a few miles outside of town.
Setting up for the protest.
Bigotry opposed on University Boulevard.
