Social Forum Organizers Need to Eject Union Busters

For whatever reason, Chicago Social Forum organizers have accepted commercial sponsorship of the May Day event from the viciously antilabor Whole Foods Markets. Organizers, please reject this vulgar intrusion into the ranks of those fighting for worker rights.
Last year, the Gay Liberation Network (formerly CABN) and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union collaborated in an effort to educate the gay community on Whole Foods Markets.

We pointed out that most gay folk are workers, not stockbrokers; that organized labor has been out front in support of gay rights; and that Whole Foods Markets has a long history of dirty dealing in its efforts to keep unions out of its operations. CEO John Mackey has been honored by his peers for his union busting crusade which includes his book on why unions are bad, BAD!.

While posturing as an environmentally friendly retailer, a purveyor of organic foods, etc., Whole Foods refused support to the boycott calls of the California strawberry laborers.

The raising of organic foods and proper environmental practices must occur within the context of justice for workers.

Check the URL below for more on the struggle to organize Whole Foods Markets.

Organizers, please disinvite Whole Foods Markers from the Chicago Social Forum. Tell them they will be welcome only when justice for workers is found in their corporate culture.
