You said "That just means that the next year you guys have to pay for a good spot, just like Verizon, Bank of America, etc. did."
Yeah, that might apply if it was Verizon and Bank of America who were passing out the other flyers, but it wasn't. The other people who were passing out flyers were circulating restaurant handbills and the like. The officer who segregated the protesters into the pen said he did it because of the content of the flyers.
Sort of flushes your "free speech for those who pay" argument down the toilet.
Valid point. But don't forget that people handing out flyers for Chinese take-out don't obstruct specific stands (i.e. Army of One) the way activists have done in the past.
The military branches having booths and handing out flyers have been known to obstruct the work of peaceful protesters as well. Not to mention also lie about the "perks" of enlisting.
As my granddaughter (or son), I'm shocked that you just can't keep from trying to spread misinformation about peace protesters trying to give an alternate spin on these multi-million dollar military extravaganzas.
At no point have protesters in Chicago obstructed the Army of One stands; I know because I've been one of them and have talked to several others involved in these counter-recruiting sessions. The whole point has been that the military shouldn't have a monopoly on the (mis)information being given out. Especially since they're wasting millions of our tax dollars on this junk, the least they could do is tolerate others giving an alternate viewpoint (and NOT at taxpayer expense, I might add). Instead, the CPD continues to unconstitutionally privilege some free speech messages over others.
