Scrib,

During an event of this nature the beach is NOT a public space.

There's nothing free in life.

(Disclaimer: The whole situation sucks, I'm just playing devil's advocate)

Well there is no admission charged for the people watching. Another words it is FREE to get in. It is still a public venue and if people want to hand another person information they have the right to. There is no law preventing people from handing out anti-war information at the air and water show.

We were downtown the other week and a cop said we cannot hand out information to other people because they might throw it on the ground. I politely asked the ordinance code then he tried to bully us and threatened to write us tickets. We have him on filmed and I asked, "So you came up and was not going to give us a ticket, but since I asked for the code now you are going to write us a ticket." He replied "Yes, this way you will always have the code and won't forget it." After a bit of going back and fourth he called a squad to get the code. They gave us a number when we went home a looked up the code it delt with handing flyers for commercial purposes. They looked it up and they knew we were not there for commercial purposes. So they purposely B.S.ed us just to get us to stop.
