Mary Ann Smith, along with others who posture as "antiwar"-- people like Durbin and Schakowsky--joined with Bush's buddy Rich Daley to impose a naval academy on Senn H S and the people of Edgewater and Chicago.
Although I hope this resolution passes, there ought to be no illusions that it serves as cover for people like Smith who have no problem pushing the militarism that increasingly permeates public education in Chicago and most other large cities.
Ironically, these cities are under pre$$ure to push militarism due to cutbacks because of U$ war for empire. Neat, huh?
