"And I'm still waiting for you to take a stand against our 'Stop Obama Now' straw man."
Geez, Carl, this isn't rocket science, so I figured I wouldn't have to spell it out for you, but if you insist….
The difference between "Defeat Obama Now" (DON) and most everyone else posting on this thread (except you) is that DON seems to believe that Obama would be worse for the left than Clinton or McCain. Given that there are so many more progressive illusions in Obama, endlessly pumped out by you and outfits like The Nation, one can understand DON's fixation with Obamania, while not agreeing with the analysis.
The main point of posters like myself is that Obama represents the same class as the other two, and will thus do his damn best to screw the other peoples of the world (and American workers) in order to preserve and expand American world dominance. He's as much a promoter of American imperial control as the other two, and you blithely ignore the evidence of this and insist on clinging to a media-borne image. It's very Kennedyesque – liberal visage, deadly in practice. Closest we came to nuclear anihilation was under the last president that people felt was bringing us "hope" and "change."
In this respect there is more than a grain of truth to what DON is putting forth. The old canard, "Only Nixon Could Go to China," i.e., it's easier for a demonstrably right-wing bastard like Tricky Dick to do something that a liberal president would get reamed for, has a corrallary: It's easier for a "progressive" president to pull off right wing shit. This was the secret to the "success" of Bill Clinton's welfare "reform," where a huge chunk of the New Deal bit the dust with barely a peep of protest from the NGO's of the respectable left.
Again, Obama represents the same class as the other two clowns. The mega-millions he's raised, out-stripping the other two bozos, alone is evidence of this. But just to make sure you get the picture really, really clear, because you've ignored all evidence previously presented (90,000 more troops, threaten to invade Pakistan, threaten to bomb Iran, etc. etc.), I've decided to make it easier for you by posting this handy diagram:
Now if ever you get lost in terms of your political bearings, Carl, just refer to the above.
Let me spell, and diagram, it out for you, Carl
