Kudos to the PWW writer, Chicagoan Emile Schepers for this. Certainly stronger than Obama's own defense of Rev. Wright
BTW, so much for Davidson's support for building an independent progressive political movement that can challenge the Dems down the road for electoral power. He's launched his own pet website for a new outfit, "Progressives for Obama" founded by Tom Hayden, Bill Fletcher,Jr., Barbara Ehrenreich, and actor Danny Glover. Bemoaning the fact that "we, the more seasoned core of the antiwar movement, and progressive activists generally, are not as engaged as we could be" they are calling for an all out effort to insure Obama's victory in the upcoming primaries while hoping to cajole him to to take a stronger progressive stance on issues like ending the war in Iraq and presumably provide a organizational counterbalance to the predictable pull from the DP leadership and donors to move the his campaign to the right in the general election. This strategy is certainly not surprising or particuarly new -- remember Progressives for Kerry -- and will no doubt develop some momentum at least among the liberal Democratic netroots. But whether this will appeal the grassroots of the antiwar movement remains to be seen.
But if it doesn't work out, Carl's already pledged in advance to vote for Hillary.
