CPD's estimate according to several corporate news accounts was 2,200, although the Sun-Times gave it 2,500. One of NLG legal observers did a zone count and puts it higher -- at 3,200. Federal Plaza capacity (according to the GSA estimate offered as testimony in an earlier civil liberties court case) is 4,7-800, based on density.
I'd be willing to say as many as 4,000 - 5,000 were there and marched, but not having stood the sidelines I can't really say. The Plaza wasn't particularly crowded but can hold 7,500 without a real problem, that is crowded though.
