Nice review of Persepolis, but it doesn't seem very "radical" to me. As far as the politics in the movie, very little mention was made of direct U.S. support for the Shah of Iran, except for one brief reference to CIA training of his secret police, the Savak. Similarly, only "the West" was blamed for supporting both sides in the Iran-Iraq war, with no direct mention of U.S. policies. Israeli aggression against Iran (the bombing of a nuclear reactor) wasn't mentioned at all, and neither was the shooting down of an Iranian passenger jet by the U.S. in 1988.
