This is one of the most hopeful antiwar protests I have heard of in a long time. The harsh punishment is obviously intended to deter other middle class, college-aspiring students from engaging in similar actions. Everyone must have these kids backs. If we want the youth to act boldly, they have to know that their futures can't be ruined with the stroke of someone's pen. I suspect this hard-ass superintendent has overplayed his hand and if there is anything worth calling an anti-war movement out there, he will soon find this out. I intend to be on the phone tomorrow and also look forward to reading more news on this site about what folks on the ground in Chicago are doing and how those of us in other cities can be of support.
