Re: We say NO to...October 27 sham

Yeah let's put a great bug divide in the anti-war community, I mean who the hell are they that would invite people downtown to an anti-war rally and not be on my particular brand of leftis, let alone not inviting my favorite speakers, from the issues that I really care about.

Damn what the hell are they thinking trying to get the middle to come out, what the hell are they trying to do getting school teachers and firemen to come out and protest the war, bastards.

I really appreciate when the anti-war community is so divided that no one will support each particular issue that really needs to be put forward, especially I like when MY group decides that the hosts of a protest are not far left enough, or god forbid, communists that want a different style revolution or that aren't for anti-authoritanism, damn what bastards THEY are.

In fact, I'm going to stay home on October 27th, and definitely not try to get a message out, cause if I'm down there where those people are coming forward, possibly for the first time, I sure wouldn't want a dialogue, and an opportunity to put forward my position on any particular issue.

Re: Re: We say NO to...October 27 sham

Just who the hell do you think HAS been coming out to antiwar protests over the past 5 years? Not only for the downtown cattle drives, but in neighborhoods across the city. We ARE teachers and city paramedics, RN's and sanitation workers, electricians, plumbers and temps, cab drivers and clerical workers, college and high school students from all over the city . We are Iraq war vets and family members of those loved ones have paid the ultimate price for this war. We are African American and Latino, Puerto Rican and Mexican, Irish and Arab, Muslims and Jews, Christians and pagans, atheists and agnostics.

We are NOT paid union bureaucrats, politicians on the make, self-appointed pundits, NGO staffers on the grant gravy train or well heeled media consultants with fat city contracts eager to pimp the antiwar movement for a little street cred in an election year. And that's who are calling the shots for this rally. And we'll see if they can deliver.

Pimps? Who don't turn out anyone?

Listen to yourself, and you'll see what the problem is?

It's going to take all these people you have disdain for, and a lot more you have even more disdain for, to end this war. If you're not up to the task of finding ways to unite with them, others will.

That's the whole point, isn't it?

"It's going to take all these people you have disdain for, and a lot more you have even more disdain for, to end this war."

One small problem: They don't act to end the war!!!

So we're going to end the war by uniting with those who vote to fund the war or do nothing to bring it to an end. Hmm...

Forgive me, but I thought the point was to END THE WAR.

Re: Re: Re: We say NO to...October 27 sham

So you push a little, and they come to YOUR demo, under YOUR banner, and add their voice, or even more.

That's an action, isn't it? Even if small and late?

Then once they do it, you work with them to do more.

Time to get serious...and break out of 'left blocism', for want of a better term, and seek to mobilize all trends in the antiwar majority.
