A lot of folks I've talked to who are increasingly ticked off about the character of this event are planning on marching, but leaving early when the march arrives at Fed. Plaza - depending on the final program, which has yet to be announced. It also looks there will be a lot of other activity throughout the day - the banner drops and other suggestions listed by ISM may pick up traction in the days ahead.
And if the politicians who just voted for war funding actually show up, a public display of disgust wouldn't hurt. These assholes deserve it. Turn your back, boo, hiss, chant, drum, haul out your whistle, get a fog horn, think performance art. Have fun. Be creative. Just don't remain passive participants if this degenerates into another worthless spectacle.
I'm also planning on going to hear Dahr Jamail speak that evening at UIC. He has not - as far as I know - been invited to speak at the rally.
An independent radical journalist who has covered Iraq and the Middle East, Jamail has seen it first hand. He writes for the Inter Press Service, The Asia Times, and many other outlets. His reports have been published in the Nation, The Sunday Herald, The Guardian, Foreign Policy in Focus, and The Independent, among other publications.
