There were new developments yesterday in the legal/political controversy over the documents regarding police abuse that the City of Chicago is
fighting to keep secret.
Mayor Daley stated that he cannot make public the list of officers with more than ten complaints over a five year period because the City's contract with the police union bars the release of personnel data.
Later in the day, the City provided all members of the City Council with copies of the list from which the names of the officers had been redacted.
The unfolding story generated considerable media attention throughout the day and led the evening news on several local channels.
