In 1941 and following, the government stoked hysteria that followed the so-called "sneak attack" on Pearl Harbor included rulings by Roosevelt appointed "liberal" judges that severely curtailed civil liberties.

On this day of flag-waving it well to recall that FDR's Supreme Court appointees fell over themselves in rushing approval of the concentration camps for Japanese, including many citizens.
