Someone coming from the left might make the same case as these "morons." Whether or not the author agrees with such a statement, I don't think that such a flippant aside is really warranted in an editorial or account, especially if no attempt will be made to address such a valid (if flawed) criticism.

If I were a fence-sitting liberal democrat type that one sentence would have nullified the entire otherwise excellent article.
