Usenet doesn't champion or un-champion anything. It's just an open bulletin board for postings of whatever.
But I would hope that Indymedia and all its components, as well as Americans generally, were champions of the First Amendment, and the rest of them as well.
That doesn't mean you can't still provide an anti-corporate alternative and edit newswire however you like, since it belongs to you and is not part of the public airwaves. It's only censorship when the state edits our speech or expression.
In any case, 'Right On' to Betty for taking on the state, in the form of Chicago and Homeland security cops, for censoring her. She's sticking up for all of us.
